In March 2014, Empowered Voices conducted a public health survey in the five villages in which we operate. The response was overwhelming. With the support of the regional government, our local team of leaders walked from household to household compiling data on the villages' education, livelihoods, access to water, sexual health, sanitation, and beyond. In total, results were collected from 250 households.
Julie, our local project manager sent us the below message after the first day had come to an end:
“This has been the most exciting experience I have had in this community ever since. Just imagine, women, thought to be semi-illiterate or so, storming the whole neighborhood as a “literate survey team” within its own community! Amazing! What would be more empowering?”
