In the beginning of January 2012 we, Kaley and Lene, traveled to Uganda not knowing what to expect, but with a hope that we could use our knowledge and motivation to make a small difference in the world. We met with our prospective partners in Kampala and started working to implement our proposed community project to reduce poverty and improve living standards for the people in Kyakasangulu village in the Mubende district. We had the most amazing trip with lots of lessons learned, amazing experiences and many new friends. We fell in love with the village and the women we are going to work with and are so excited to develop this project and making it happen. The initial project was the result of a hardworking group of students at the Harvard Extension School: Luciana Araripe, Andre Balatka, Lene Martinsen, Fabio Padilla and Kaley Sweeney. Our goal is to see this project through and we invite you to follow our blog here and help us make it happen!
